Danish Refugee Council Job Circular
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018, DRC started implementing aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox’s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
DRC is implementing General Protection, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection programme in 6 camps (6, 8E, 8W, 10, 11, 12) and 2 host community locations (Rajapalong and Palongkhali Unions). DRC’s general protection programming consists of three main activity areas: i) Case management (including individual protection assistance) and referrals; ii) Community-based protection including establishing gender, age diverse groups and committees and conducting awareness, sensitization and capacity building on the identification, prevention, and response to protection risks; iii) Protection monitoring. Child protection programme includes identification, tracing, reunification, PSS, positive parenting, awareness raising, capacity building, CFS and MPCAC Gender Based Violence programme includes case management, referrals, PSS, protection NFI supports, running safe spaces and community centers, awareness raising. Protection manager will support a transition towards more integrated protection programming. This may include building capacities of caseworkers to support GP, CP and GBV cases, revisiting the CBP curricula so that it is streamlined with the prevention work being implemented by CP and GBV teams and mainstreaming inclusion and age, gender, diversity (AGD) approaches across programming.
In addition, the primary objective of the Protection Manager will be, together with the Area Manager, Head of Programme and the Protection Coordinator, to ensure the timely and effective delivery of DRC’s overall activities in the assigned locations, ensuring activities comply with technical standards, and supporting the mainstreaming of protection to other program sectors. The Protection Manager will line manage six team leaders, and lead a team of 30 protection staff.
